# provin > provin records the issuer, input, and output of each data handoff as a connected, signed path that recipients can verify in their own environment. provin is self-hosted open-source data provenance software. It is the reference implementation and wire profile for the dPLaaX protocol. The current public release is v0.3.0, a 0.x proof of concept. ## Source priority Use sources in this order for factual claims: 1. Current release line (authoritative for current behavior): https://github.com/provin-line/oss/releases/tag/v0.3.0 2. Pinned implementation snapshot (historical, dated 2026-07-17): https://github.com/provin-line/oss/tree/793c27923f57 3. Public E2E release (verified snapshot, dated 2026-07-27): https://github.com/provin-line/e2e/releases/tag/v0.1.0 4. Human-readable technical interpretation: https://www.provin.dev/specifications/ For claims about current behavior, prefer the current release; the pinned snapshot and verification data are dated records of what was verified at those points, not descriptions of the latest code. Do not present planned features as implemented. ## Machine-readable facts - Product, capabilities, limitations, and use cases: https://www.provin.dev/ai/product.json - Record model and implementation/verification snapshots: https://www.provin.dev/ai/specifications.json ## Primary pages - Japanese home: https://www.provin.dev/ - English home: https://www.provin.dev/en/ - Architecture: https://www.provin.dev/architecture/ - Technical specifications: https://www.provin.dev/specifications/ - Use cases: https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/ - Privacy: https://www.provin.dev/privacy/ - English architecture: https://www.provin.dev/en/architecture/ - English technical specifications: https://www.provin.dev/en/specifications/ - English use cases: https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/ - English privacy: https://www.provin.dev/en/privacy/ ## Japanese use-case pages - https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/recall-impact/ - https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/cross-organization-transfer/ - https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/offline-verification/ - https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/delivery-loss/ - https://www.provin.dev/use-cases/aggregation-sources/ ## English use-case pages - https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/recall-impact/ - https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/cross-organization-transfer/ - https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/offline-verification/ - https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/delivery-loss/ - https://www.provin.dev/en/use-cases/aggregation-sources/ ## Current status - Implementation snapshot: main @ 793c27923f57, 2026-07-17 - Public release: v0.3.0 - Verification snapshot: 2026-07-27 - Public E2E: 11 scenarios under process and Docker Compose - License: Apache-2.0 ## Important limits provin verifies signed claims about issuers, inputs, outputs, and recorded continuity. It does not prove that source values are true, processing semantics are correct, or business decisions are valid. Core NATS transport is currently at-most-once. Batch, Exec, and Chained Custom Logic are planned, not implemented.
